It is not excluded that in Moscow in the near future will begin an ambitious project on building the largest railway station in Europe. Transport complex "Kalanchevskiy" – so is the title of the future terminal tasked to optimize communication between train stations and airports of the Russian capital. The total project cost is estimated at 208 billion rubles.
The alleged construction site for a new transport complex is Komsomolskaya Square, where today located three railway stations in Moscow: Leningradskiy, Yaroslavlskiy and Kazanskiy.
Funding for the project will be provided from various sources. About 80 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget, 30 - from the capital. The largest share of the construction is designed for third-party investors. Their participation in the project is estimated at 98 billion rubles. Russian Vnesheconombank announced about possible opening of a credit line to finance the new project. Project completion is scheduled for 2016.
The new station will include a service center, new station building and a special terminal for air expresses, which will deliver passengers to the major Moscow airports: Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.
Information about the upcoming project was posted by the Interfax news agency, citing the material of the inter-regional conference of the party "United Russia". The conference was held on March 4-5, 2011 in Bryansk.
Project authors hope that the new terminal, which will connect the train stations and airports in Moscow, will cover the expenses in 7-8 years.
Among the investors who may participate in the project are RRW and LLC Aeroexpress. But the newspaper Vedomosti notes that Moscow authorities have not yet commented on the possible composition of investors list.
