Hotel chains come to Moscow

Several well-known international hotel chains are interested in the Moscow hotel market. The most interesting offers are suggested by the British IHG, Canadian Fairmont and French Accor.

So, Intercontinental Hotel Group announced its intention to open in Moscow the first hotel of the Intercontinental brand before the end of 2011. The first brand’s hotel in Russia will be called InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya. It will be located in the heart of Moscow on the Tverskaya Street.

The former National hotel, one of the most famous and legendary hotels in Moscow, may soon change its name. Moscow authorities put the famous hotel for sale. The authorities expect to receive at least $150 million, according to rbcdaily.ru. The owner is not yet defined. But it is already known that several leading hotel operators in the field of luxury hotel properties are interested in the hotel. It is not excluded that after changing the owner National will appear under one of the Accor brand. However, this information is not yet officially confirmed.

Accor hotel chain has great plans for Moscow. In 2012, the company plans to introduce in the capital market several hotels under the business brands Mercure and Novotel. In the nearest future Accor plans to open 25 hotels in Moscow in particular and in whole Russia.

It should be noted that the above-mentioned National was not the only famous hotel in Moscow, which in the near future may to change the name. Another historic hotel of the capital - Pekin - will soon be closed for the reconstruction. The cost of reconstruction is estimated at $100 million. After the opening updated Beijing hotel will have not only a new look, but also a new management company. This follows from the contract signed between the owner of the hotel - Hals-Development Company - and a network of luxury hotels Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. So, after the reconstruction the hotel will have a new name - Fairmont Pekin Moscow.

Hotel chains of the world are going to develop not only central districts of Moscow, but also busy transport hubs. Thus, the Sheraton hotel chain in the middle of October 2011 announced the plans to open a new hotel near the international airport Sheremetyevo-2. This hotel will be located 800 meters from the airport terminals. It will be the second Sheraton hotel in Moscow. The hotel was named Sheraton Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel. Its opening is planned for the early 2014.
